Moses :The Story of Moses and His Burial
In Deuteronomy 34, we learn that he climbed Mount Nebo, located near Jericho, where God revealed to him the expansive lands that were promised to the Israelites. These included the regions of Gilead, Naphtali, Ephraim, Manasseh, Judah, and the area extending to the western sea. Although Moses had the opportunity to see the Promised Land, God told him that he would not be allowed to enter it.
He passed away in the land of Moab, and God Himself took responsibility for his burial. To this day, the exact location of his grave remains unknown. Despite being 120 years old, He retained his physical strength and clear vision. The Israelites mourned his passing for 30 days in the plains of Moab.
The Mystery of Moses’ Grave
The secrecy surrounding the burial of Moses invites many questions. Why did God choose to conceal the location of his grave?
One possible reason is that God wanted to prevent the Israelites from turning the grave into a place of idol worship. Known for their struggles with idolatry, the Israelites might have revered He burial site in a way that would divert attention from worshiping God.
Another reason could be that God wanted to make sure he remains were not transported into the Promised Land, especially since it had already been decreed that he would not enter, even in death. This choice highlights God’s unwavering commitment to His promises.
Lessons from Moses’ Life
A Life of Service
He had the privilege of growing up in Pharaoh’s household, where he was set for greatness according to earthly standards. However, he chose a life of service to God and His people, turning away from wealth and power.
His selfless devotion serves as a reminder that true greatness is found in humble service to God and others.
Faithfulness to God’s Commands
Throughout his life, Moses demonstrated obedience to God’s commands, never using his leadership position for personal gain. His faith and obedience inspire us to put God’s will above our own desires.
Physical and Spiritual Vitality
At 120 years old, Moses maintained both physical strength and spiritual vigor. His life is a testament to how staying close to God can renew our energy and purpose.
